MIN MAUDE

Min Maude was born in Yorkshire. After studying Fashion and Textiles at Nottingham College of Art, followed by postgraduate Theatre Design, she worked for 20 years in theatre and film. She worked with actors and directors such as Ian McKellan, Derek Jacobi, Jodi Foster and Meryl Streep.

Alongside her career Maude always created art. Her work is nearly always painted, but often incorporates collage and found material. Over the years it has become increasingly abstract with the atmosphere or mood carefully orchestrated through colour and mark making.

Among the inspirations for Maude’s work are gardens, travels in India and to Venice. I have also created a body of work inspired by maps, guides and ground plans. “My paintings are layered like memories”, she says.
