EMMA STIBBON RA

“Emma Stibbon’s work is rooted in direct observation of landscape though Emma’s stems primarily from concern for the changes wrought by climate change on the natural world.

I knew and admired Emma’s epic woodcuts for years before I first met her. After my own election to the RA in 2011, Emma was the first artist who I worked (successfully) to have elected as a printmaker Academician too.

Her diverse images from Roman ruins to melting glaciers to collapsing whaling stations to erupting volcanoes have a sense of epic scale, drama and haunting atmosphere. Her print techniques are quite wide-ranging yet she brings to them a secure foundation in peerless observational drawing.”
