Ruth Dent: Visible, Invisible, Veiled Series
When broken grids appeared in my work, I wrote:
‘grids represent a veil - allowing glimpses beneath, while distorting, hiding, shading, holding back. Is this something to do with the spirit - which is unseen yet it's presence is felt, known, acknowledged and simultaneously hidden from view?’
Nature is full of broken grids. Walking in the woods I observe their changing colours and appearance. ‘Visible, Invisible, Veiled’ explores broken grids, considering whether “a broken grid relates to breaking out?” and asking “is nature hiding?, or what is nature hiding?”.
My work celebrates life, nature, the feminine and the spirit, aiming to capture the exhilaration of connection through colour, gesture and material.
